Craniosacral Therapy
enhancing the function of the craniosacral system
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the bones of the head, spine and sacrum as well as the membranes and cerebrospinal fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
A soft touch (about the weight of a nickel) is used to release restrictions in this system to improve functioning of the central nervous system.
CST complements the body's natural healing processes and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Autism, colic, infantile disorders
- Traumitic brain and spinal cord injuries
- Whiplash
- Headaches - tension and migraines
- TMJ dysfunction ------ to name a few.
For a more in-depth understanding of CST, please view the following short video where Michael Morgan from the Upledger Institute explains more about it and demonstrates it on a client - VIEW CLIP.
CST is often included as part of your therapy session, usually at the end - however it is very effective as a therapy on its own.
